The works include the construction of a new three-storey 8,678m2 Post Primary School ( PHASE 1) and the construction of a new two-storey 1,400m2 Primary School (PHASE 2) for the Department of Education & Skills, together with very substantial site development works and associated demolitions and alterations.

Key Packages:

  • Knotweed removal and burial on site as per Works requirements. Approx area of 1100m2 removed and dig of area approx. 2-3 m depth, all removed to a containment pit on site.
  • Bulk Dig Excavation: Substantial bulk dig excavation to site, approximately 58,000m3 was to be disposed off-site.
  • Segregation and Removal of Contaminated material
  • External Wokrs: New internal road with set-down areas for buses and cars, switch room, ancillary storerooms, boiler house, car parking (96 Nr. spaces), ball courts, landscaping and associated site works.
  • In situ Concrete Retaining Walls constructed with Stone cladding facing on site including walls 40m long retaining ground of 12m high, 60m long retaining ground 7-11m high, 90m long retaining ground approx 4-6m high. Substantial digs for construction of these wall were coordinated while ongoing works were completed to the building, coordination between different access routes and implementation of safe procedures were adhered to throughout the course of the project.
  • Insitu Concrete Work: – Concrete Ground beams and pile caps to foundations supported on Precast Concrete Piles which were value engineered from CFA piles. Concrete Frame to Superstructure consisted of columns and beams to support insitu concrete floors of depth up to approx. 500mm depth. Substantial reinforcement installation to support structure. 5nr stair core providing access to 3 storeys building constructed. Large Retaining Walls constructed on Site including wall 40m long retaining ground of 12m high, 60m long retaining ground 7-11m high, 90m long retaining ground approx. 4-6m high.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Installation: Mechanical & Electrical Specialist were nominated into this project by the Design Team. Full installation of new services to the project Mechanical Services included – Gas Installations, Heating installations, water installations, ventilation installations, Fire installations and Drainage installations.
  • Electrical services included – LV installations, Lighting and emergency light, General & small power services, security & Public address systems Lightning Protection, PV panels to Sports Hall.
  • Ceilings & Partitions: New installation of new grid and plasterboard ceilings including acoustic grade ceiling and wall panelling. New partitions constructed and bulkhead details for supports to glazed screens.
  • Roofing & Cladding: New Bauder roofing system installed including PIR insulation, on roof decking. New insulated gutters and 6nr different roof types including coordination between finishes to different structure and roof levels. New Swiss pearl cladding installed to soffit of ground floor canopies and Sports hall.
  • Steel Frame: Steel frame design to Sports Hall and roof Structure support beams and outset features to roof constructed.
  • Floor Finishes: Floor finishes installed included, forbo marmoleum, Safety flooring, junckers timber floor to sports hall, cloudscape carpet tiles, ancillary accessories and trims. Matwells to entrance areas installed. 5nr stair core providing access to 3 storey building finished with forbo maramolem and all required accessories.
  • Curtain Walling Windows: – AMS curtain walling system, windows and doors installed to varying specifications including solar control glazing, manifestations, spandrel panels with varying colours including ancillary epdms, air tightness taping, and supports.
  • Sporting Facilities: Sports hall constructed including Junkers timber flooring, Acoustic wall panel, full M&E fit-out including Radiant panel suspended from roof decking.

Key Deliverables:

  • New Build completed on a Greenfield / part Brownfield site within a live environment, over phases to accommodate Client/end user requirements. Scope of Works included
  • Decanting of the existing Scoil Mhainchin Primary School to temporary accommodation off-site. This temporary accommodation is positioned on the existing Scoil Mhuire Girls Secondary School site.
  • The construction of the new access road entrance from the Lahinch Road.
  • The demolition of the existing Scoil Mhainchin Primary School and the existing made ground to be excavated to the agreed level.
  • Construction of new post primary school comprising of a three-story building including connected sports hall (8,678m2), new internal road with set-down areas for buses and cars, switch room, ancillary storerooms, boiler house, car parking (96 Nr. spaces), ball courts, landscaping and associated site works and provision of all new mechanical and electrical works.
  • Following completion of construction of the post primary school (PHASE 1), the demolition of Scoil Mhuire Girls Secondary School to allow construction of the new primary school.
  • The construction of the new primary school comprising of a two-storey standalone new 5 classroom building. In addition to the 5 classrooms there will be offices, a GP room and store, SNU classrooms and office, a multi-sensory room, offices, a staff room, a library, two tuition rooms, general offices and circulation areas (1,341m2) and provision of all new mechanical and electrical works.
  • Removal of all temporary prefabricated buildings, on completion of the new school building
  • Working within a site with restricted access and confined boundaries. – Working adjacent to two live schools, complex traffic management, at various stages of the project.
  • Project Delivery during traversing covid, one of the larges campus style education projects in rural Ireland to be built, complex constructed on a raised plateau.
