History

  • 1934

    Founded 1934 - by brothers Matthew and Tom Kilcawley.

  • 1935

    1935 – Construction commenced on The Gaiety Cinema Wine St Sligo. It opened in 1936 and had capacity of 1,000-seats.

  • 1940

    April 1940 – Mail Coach Road Scheme - Tender accepted of £58834 for 114 houses on Mail Coach Road Sligo and the first houses were completed by March 1941. The scheme became know as St Brigid’s place.

  • 1950

    1950 – ESB Regional Headquarters. Kilcawleys returned in 1994 and again in 2017 for refurbishment projects on the building.

  • 1970

    1970 – Sligo Dominican Friary the old Church was demolished (the former apse with its mosaics was left standing) and the “new” Church, was opened in 1973.

  • 1980

    1980 – Kilcawley Construction was restructured, and Liam Kilcawley became owner and managing Director

  • 1980s

    Late 1980’s - Construction commenced on Ballinrobe Community School Co Mayo. It is a mixed gender school, and it was opened in September 1990, after the merging of 3 second level schools in Ballinrobe

  • 1993

    1993- Kilcawley Construction awarded First Prize in Construction Excellence Awards for Ceide Fields Mayo

  • 1995

    1995 - The company was involved in joint ventures and was invited by the National Building Agency to kick start urban regeneration in Sligo. This involved developing the city centre along both sides of the riverbank. Other joint ventures including design & build were the new pedestrian bridge across the Garvogue River at Rockwood Parade

  • 1998

    1998 – Brendan Henry won Building Manager of the Year for Dooncarton Radar Station, Mayo

  • 2000

    2000 – Tom Kenny appointment Managing Director

  • 2003

    2003 - Martin Kavanagh won Building Manager of the Year for Sligo County Hall

  • 2007

    2007 – The company underwent management restructuring and ownership changes. Brendan Henry becoming Managing Director and 100% shareholder.

  • 2007

    2007- Awarded contract on the Shell Corrib Gas Line

  • 2009

    2009 – Moved to a new head office on Wolfe Tone St Sligo

     

  • 2014

    November 2014 – Celebrates 80 years in Business

  • 2015

    March 2015 - Opened regional office in Maynooth Co Kildare

  • 2016

    September 2016 – Moved offices to a state of art premises at Sansheen Business Campus

  • 2018

    2018 - Fergal Meagher Appointed Managing Director

  • 2019

    August 2019 - The Works completed on the construction of an Advanced Technology Unit, for Wasdell Group
