Finner Camp Locker Facility

Kilcawley Construction recently completed a new locker facility and shower rooms at Finner Camp, Co Donegal. This will provide the 28th Infantry Battalion stationed there with modern facilities.

Works comprised the construction of a new 2-storey building of 823m² floor area on a sloping site with associated siteworks. The building accommodates locker rooms and associated ablution facilities for use by the Irish Defence Forces.

Spread foundations were used and construction is generally load-bearing masonry with some concrete framing. Floors are precast concrete suspended floors. A bracket and rail built-up roof was used. The exterior of the building is rendered with nap plaster. Interior finishes comprise of fair faced blockwork, exposed ceilings and resin compound floor finish.

This project was successfully delivered on a live & operational high-security Military facility. To overcome the difficulty this presented, Kilcawley Construction pro-actively dealt with all parties concerned throughout the construction program to ensure that works were carried out safely and with minimal disruption to operations and adjoining facilities on the barracks. This necessitated the development and implementation of Traffic Management, Noise / Dust control plans and detailed method statements to minimise the impact on the surrounding buildings and occupants.
