The project comprised refurbishment, fire and safety upgrade works to the existing 18th century protected structure building and the later 1960s extension.
The works involved upgrade of doors, ceiling, stair cores, floor and partitions to the required fire and safety standards, The works also consisted of repairs to rain water goods, removal works to sash windows, stone repairs and pointing, disabled access ramps and upgrade of existing fire alarm installation.
The key feature of the project was that the college was fully operational during the construction process, with a pupil population of 700, and 60 staff. Works were carried out with a high degree of co-ordination and co-operation with college management in order to ensure no disruption to college activity.
