The AIT Canteen & Kitchen refurbishment project was undertaken in an 8-week fast track construction program, in order to ensure that the new kitchen and canteen were available to service patrons of the annual Midland Community Games event, which took place on the College campus during early August 2011.
The works consisted of the demolition of the existing kitchen and the incorporation of a new commercial kitchen with servery area, which will increase the capacity of AIT's catering division to service an ever expanding number of staff and students, to the highest standards. The works also consisted of new electrical and mechanical services installations, new storage rooms and services area, and an external access ramp to the rear of the kitchen area. The incorporation of new circulation areas, coffee dock, soup station and confectionery area greatly enhance the service available to patrons of AIT. Kilcawley Construction worked closely with the project Designers, Malachi Cullen, to deliver this project in line with the tight timeframe required by the client.
