Cauteen Windfarm Substation

Kilcawley Construction was responsible for the Design & Build of the civil works required for the construction of the 110kV Substation Compound at this new windfarm (11.5MW) comprising of 13 no. 0.85 MW rated Vestas V52 wind turbines. Works included,

•   Installation of 20 no. concrete Transformer foundation plinths and Unit Substation plinths

•   Installation of Station Compound Palisade Fence and gates and Station Roadway

•   Covering the Compound Area with broken stone

•   The installation of the earth grid in the Compound

•   Construction of Control Building. This included Control Room with raised access floor.  Battery Room finishes with acid resistant floor, Store Room and WC

•   Installation of 2 no. 110kV Grid Transformers

•   Provision of outdoor 110kV protection

•   Associated drainage and services to serve Equipment Bases and Control and Switchgear Building

•   Installation of Oil Interceptor Tank and piping to transformer bunds

•   Installation of foul water storage tank

•   Installation of adequate arrangements of pipes and ducts for all control / protection cables and all power cables

•   All associated site works

•   Landscaping requirements as per civil drawings

•   Installation of floor attenuation system, including pumps and control panel

Kilcawley Construction also acted as PSCS for the works the necessary control measures, design assumptions and risks were communicated to the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) for inclusion in the safety and health plan.
